Open The Door
I’ve spent a lot of time on this photo. I’ve finished it at least twice and now here it is, thrice revived. It has been a source of incredible disappointment when the shot on my screen does NOT develop into the shot I had in my mind. Sometimes I have to admit defeat and just scrap the capture; sometimes, I have to turn it into something completely different, allow it to tell ME what it wants/needs to be. That’s what happened with this particular photo.
I simply could not get the colors to develop. The foreground was always heavy with a yellow tint no matter how I manipulated things and the more vibrant colors of the background took focus away from my lovely model. Swimming upstream was making me tired so I acquiesced and allowed a desaturated, sepia feel to rule.
