  1. Bravo! I have seen clouds shaped like the one in your photo. I was driving through the mountains during a storm one year ago in August and as I turned on the winding road I looked up and saw what appeared to be egg carton shaped clouds hovering over the landscape. A visit to the weather network site stated that this type of cloud structure contains vast amounts of moisture. I am grateful that none of that excessive moisture deluged the area is was driving through. Thank you for sharing this marvellous photo. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks Gerry. This is the most prominent mammatus formation I’ve ever seen. There were significant storms to the south of us so luckily (like you), we got the show without having to pay a price!
